We are going to continue our focus on insurgency and counterinsurgency

by following up our episode of Dr. David Cole Cohen by bringing on Dr. John Nagel.

John Nagel is a retired lieutenant colonel currently teaching at the U.S.

Army War College. In a previous life he played a huge role in helping co-author the U.S. Army

and Marine Corps counterinsurgency field manual during the war on Iraq with General David Patrace

and Jim Maddog Madness for those of you who like Trump administration references.

People have been saying to signposts these Ukraine episodes a little better. So here is the

signpost for this episode. The question of insurgency and counterinsurgency is deeply important.

So she when it comes to how Putin could or can't get an exit option from the conflict.

Now that he's failed to win the battle in three days, now that the battle is going on longer and longer

and longer, this is going to look much more like a war of occupation than a war of direct

military and military engagement. So going deep on this topic is really important to understanding

how this conflict is going to go in a couple of different directions. So I hope that you all

get a lot from this one. Quick thing as I stated previously we're only going to show it out one

thing per episode instead of throwing five at you. So the thing we're throwing out today is the
