Hey, what is up? Welcome back to the show. Today we're revisiting the theme of board builders.

And part of my goal here is to highlight the many roles involved in board building, not just the role of the shaper, which I am responsible for doing for the last four years.

And another goal is really to help demystify the construction process of board building.

I'd like to attempt to educate about the materials that are used and how different constructions perform in the water.

All of this is in an effort to empower you and I.

I would like to make sure that we're investing our surfboard money wisely,

and I would like to ensure that we are getting on the right equipment.

I rode boards that were way too small for me for the first 10 years of my surf experience.

It did me no favors in terms of advancing my performance progress. But that brings us to today's guest, Greg Martz.

Greg, as a guest, satisfies all of those goals. He will help us demystify all of these things.

But first, I want to wrap up this ongoing conversation that I've been having with Maui boardbuilder, Jeff Timpony.

We planned this talk for April in concert with Earth Day because Jeff is doing his part to reduce environmental impact of board construction.

He's using bio-based resins, hemp and flax cloths. And if you want an EPS core from him, he's using a recycled foam. If you want to use a polyurethane core, he's using a solar made foam.

And these materials net an estimated 30% reduction in environmental impact with no noticeable

degradation and board performance nor longevity. So this construction method, he is branded

as Maui Leaf Light, and we are going to give one of those boards away.
