Today's episode is focused on World War One. Saga and I have spent a lot of time debating

World War Two analogies and questions in our discussion episodes. So this episode's focused

on a war that Americans typically ignore when we think about the 20th century and our role in the

world today. I spoke with Neil Langto. He is the author of the Approaching Storm, Roosevelt,

Wilson Adams, and their clash over America's future. This was the perfect fit for this series.

We're doing on Ukraine because the underlying idea of this book is that during the lead-up

and during World War One, Progressives, Roosevelt, Wilson Adams, we're debating how the US should

respond to a crisis in Europe that felt really separate from America's actually every day experiences.

Eventually, we were brought into that war and the debate around our role in the world really changed
