Today, the city of Luxor bustles with tourists.

Stretching along the east bank of the Nile, the city is a beautiful place with elegant

promenades, historical hotels, and a view directly towards desert mountains and fabulous monuments.

As you make your way along the river's edge, following the Corniche walkway, you'll inevitably

see a temple. This one stretches from north to south,

bending slightly as it follows the ancient riverbank. The monument is spectacular, a pair of enormous

pylons, beautifully preserved, long courts with towering columns, and at the very front a huge

obelisk and colossal statues.

This is Luxor Temple, or Ipet Resit, the southern sanctuary, and it is one of the marvels

of the city.

As you approach the temple, either from the visitor's entrance, or the avenue of Sphinxes that connects it to Karnak,
