Imagine a former slave having a better vocabulary than you.

How are you in the 6th grade and you can't read at all?

You don't think the politicians who have won the black vote

have necessarily done the right things for the black community.

We have a complex where we think that we're not in control of our own destiny.

We got until 86% really comprehension rate for the boys in our program.

The vote doesn't matter as much as people think it does.

Sometimes nonprofits start working on the logistics and business so much

that they forget about what they actually started nonprofit for.

You know, as an Armenian, a lot of times when I talk to my own community,

Middle Eastern, a lot of times I'll say, well, the government needs to help us out with this.

And the government needs to help us out with that.

There are two communities in my own camp.

And there's a camp that says, well, why don't we do something about it?

Why don't we go out there and do something about it to help the community?

That's upset a lot of people because he's sitting out there saying,

I don't know if we need the government to help us out.
