Today we'll be interviewing Nettia Corafor.

She was born in the United States to two Nigerian immigrant parents.

She's a professor at Chicago State University.

Though American-born Nettie's Muse is Nigeria, her parents began taking her and her siblings to visit relatives there when she was very young.

Her first novels, R. The Windseeker, takes place in a highly technological world based on Nigerian myths and culture.

Her second novel, The Shadow Speaker, has characters from and takes place in the countries of Niger and Nigeria.

science fiction and so actually I first came across Nettie's work in an anthology

that John edited called Seees of Change that featured a story called Spider the Artist,

which is set in an African village.

And the main character is a woman who kind of has an unhappy life and there's a oil pipeline that runs

sort of through her backyard along the outskirts of the village and nobody in the

village is allowed to go near this oil pipeline and there are kind of

creepy spider robots that's got all up and down the oil pipe to make sure that

nobody messes with it and she kind of develops a

the main character sort of develops a friendship with one of these robots. It's just a really cool
