| 0:00.0 | I'd like to welcome you to episode 21 of the Symbolic World podcast. On this episode, I'm going to |
| 0:06.0 | play for you a video that I put up last year, which tries to follow a symbolic thread. One of |
| 0:13.6 | the questions that people have asked me is how exactly do we come to symbolic interpretations, |
| 0:19.4 | which are not just, you know, an expression of our own fancy, |
| 0:22.7 | of our own idiosyncrasies. |
| 0:24.4 | And one of the manners we can do that is by looking at a large scale through many stories |
| 0:30.3 | and seeing how the same patterns repeat themselves over and over at different levels of reality. |
| 0:36.5 | And so I will try to give up an example of that in interpreting the notion of heaven and |

| 0:48.8 | Christian tradition. |
| 0:53.6 | Music This is Jonathan Peugeot. Welcome to the symbolic world. |

| 1:37.3 | what can sometimes seem like strange jumps are in fact a very tight |
| 1:41.3 | and coherent web of meanings and analogies. |
| 1:47.0 | And these analogies are built out of the extremely dense origin of something, and then they |
| 1:53.8 | take on a more and more explicit form as the grand story, if you will, unfold. |
| 2:00.3 | So in terms of Christianity, the pattern begins in Genesis, and then unfolds, finding |
| 2:07.0 | its highest and most complete internalized version in the person of Christ. |
| 2:13.7 | And in the end, these patterns are really the underlying patterns of reality. |
| 2:18.2 | And they find their, let's say they find form in particular instances, in particular forms. |
