The US President has made no secret of his desire to acquire the Arctic territory, which he says is vital to American

national security. And at the weekend, he threatened to impose new tariffs on countries,

including the UK, which have supported Denmark's sovereignty over the island.

Tonight, he dropped that threat and said he'd formed the framework of a future deal on Greenland

following a meeting with the NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutter. But when MPs crowded into

the commons at lunchtime for Prime Minister's questions, the tariffs were still due to come into

force next month. Secir Stama insisted the future of Greenland was a matter for the people of Greenland

and the Kingdom of Denmark.
