Well, good morning, beautiful. Welcome to a brand new day of life, new day, new week. Happy Monday,

everybody. I missed you over the weekend, but I sure am excited that I get to be here with you to help you get

your day started right. So we took a little bit of a break from our study in the book of Exodus.

We took a two-week break over Easter and post-easter,

but now we're coming back. We want to finish up our study of Exodus. And we're picking right

back up where we left off a couple weeks ago. We made it all the way to Exodus chapter 17.

So let's recap where we're at. Okay,

remember God's people, the Israelites, they were slaves in Egypt for over 400 years.

God chooses Moses to be their leader to take them out of captivity in Egypt and lead them towards the promised land God

had for his people. Meanwhile, God shows up in radically awesome, miraculous ways for his people.

Time and time again, God does miracles to set them free from captivity

and to lead them through the wilderness, to feed them, to protect them, to provide for them,

to guide them. Everything, every step, God has been so present and in every detail.

And that brings us to Exodus chapter 17. Let's read this a little bit at a time together and then break it down. Okay. So starting with verse one, it says, at the Lord's command, that's important,

underline that. At the Lord's command, the whole community of Israel left the wilderness and moved

from place to place. Eventually, they camped, but there was no water there for the people to drink.

Okay, so we're going to pause right there.

It's important to understand that God's people are following God.

They are being obedient at the Lord's command.

They are moving, and they are at a place in the desert where there is no water.
