Summary

In today's Monday Message, Emily wants to help you make the most out of this holiday season. Are there people in your life who have a history of disappointing you because they are not able to show up for you in the ways you need them to? If so, you may need to demote them from a position they are not qualified for yet. If you keep expecting them to be something they aren't ready to be, you will always feel let down. Once you realize they are not at a place in their own journey where they can be that for you, you will be able to shift your perspective and accept them for who they are. Show them love and compassion during this time and know that we are all just doing our best. Maybe they can't be what you need right now, but if you look around you, you may have someone else in your life who can be that for you. Lean on them and allow them to hold space for you. Go into this holiday season with gratitude, a new perspective, healthy boundaries and with intentionality, create the experience you wish to have.

Hello, everyone and welcome to the Evolve with Emily Show. I am your host, Emily Hayden,

0:18.7

and you are listening to another Monday message. Every

0:21.9

single Monday, I bring a message of the day to you guys. So here's today's message. You need to

0:27.6

demote some people in your life. I know the holiday season can be a really difficult time for a lot of

0:33.8

people. And I think it's because a lot of people get really hurt by unmet expectations

0:39.7

in their family, in their significant other relationships, maybe even in business relationships.

0:47.1

But here's the thing. You have to start to learn to recognize when somebody lacks the

0:52.7

ability to show up for you and to love you the way

0:55.5

that you need. Some of you are constantly hurt by these people because you expect them to

1:00.5

care for you and to love you in the way that you need and you're always let down when they don't.

1:05.1

Maybe you've always wanted them to take responsibility or to apologize for something in the

1:09.3

past or to even just acknowledge things

1:11.3

from the past. Maybe you've wanted them to care enough simply to ask you about how your day is going

1:17.3

instead of always talking about themselves. Maybe you've wanted them to really actually care

1:22.2

about your feelings instead of make everything about their feelings. You're failing to recognize

1:27.1

that you're asking them

1:29.0

to do an impossible job given where they're currently at. You have to recognize people for who

1:34.6

and what they are. Unhealed humans acting out their unprocessed trauma, pain, and hurt onto you.

1:42.0

And most of the time, people are actually doing their best. Kind reminder,

1:48.1

you are also acting out unhealed and unconscious parts of yourself, your trauma, and your past.

1:54.1

So I think having this understanding can give you compassion to understand that everybody is doing

2:00.7

the best that they can, given where they're currently at.
