Today the topic is just a few thoughts about mourning and

about comfort. Comfort is what we aim for when we want to say or do something

that will bring relief to the sufferer or encouragement to the

downcast to strengthen the weak and to bring hope and comfort to the sad and

sorrowing and comfort is what we want and need when we are mourning.

Ecclesiasties 3.1 says to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.

And in verse 4 of chapter 3, a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance. There is a season for mourning. It has a season and a purpose because everything has a season and a purpose under heaven.

Sometimes we mourn for others. Sometimes we mourn for others,

sometimes we mourn for ourselves.

Ecclesiasi says there is a time to mourn,

and this assumes that the time for mourning

will have a beginning and an end.

It is in allotted time and season.

Morning is acute pain.

The pain will subside. It may always be a dull ache or the pain of mourning may

disappear and fade into a sweet gratitude of remembrance. There is a time for

weeping, but there is a time to laugh and dance as well.

This truth in itself offers comfort to the believer.

God has made us to feel pain and sorrow. We will mourn. We will grieve. We are his creatures.

He will never leave us or forsake us in our mourning. But he will heal us. There is a time and a purpose for our mourning, a
