Now that we are in the middle of October, I hope that you've been able to take a collective sigh and congratulate yourself on this season, completing it, growing your own garden, no matter what the results ended up being, whether you had lots of success or whether you've had more disappointments than you would have hoped to have

0:21.7

had or anything in between, all of that is completely normal. But now that probably the busiest

0:27.4

time of the year is behind you, this is the perfect time to begin to reflect. If you take the time

0:35.6

to do this, I think what you'll learn just like I have is it is

0:38.6

actually an investment. It's an investment into the next season that will pay off in dividends.

0:45.1

You probably can't predict at this point. Let me just assure you how important it is to reflect

0:51.7

and to take note. It will inform your strategy for next season,

0:56.2

and most likely you will have a better season next year if you take these steps. Your reflection

1:02.9

will be multifaceted most likely, as mine is. It may include tests that you conducted in your

1:09.8

garden.

1:12.2

You know how much I love tests.

1:18.4

I actually conducted several tests this year, and I will be diving deep into those tests and the results that I got and what I learned in the last several episodes of this

1:23.8

2021 season.

1:25.3

So I'm going to dive in deep into some of my big tests like my onion harvest

1:29.5

and things that I did that I tested and learned this year. Also, how cover crops with cabbage

1:36.1

worms ended up working. And then I'll also do a deep dive into my first try of tromboncino squash.

1:42.8

And if you follow me on Instagram, you know that my big test

1:45.2

partly was, did it actually deter squash insects like the squash bug and the squash bindbore?

1:51.4

So those are just three examples. I'll be doing other deep dives later in the season. And those

1:56.6

just, like I said, kind of merit their own episodes. But there are smaller tests that we do in our

2:02.7

garden and just general observations, like when do pests show up, what varieties perform well for us

2:10.0

or not. So that's what really this episode is going to be about. I'm going to be sharing with you

...
