Summary

The Tahoe 200 Endurance Run just finished up a week ago.  There were over 100 people that started this race of 205.5 miles, including our own Don Freeman.  We are doing a tw0-part podcast devoted to the race report (because this is twice as long as a 100-mile race, duh).

Race creator and Director, Candice Burt, joins us with Donna Ní Cuarta, a volunteer that flew over from London.

In Part 1 we will cover

  • The Race Course
  • Special Equipment
  • The Volunteers

Part 2 will cover the experience of the race through the eyes of a racer....Don :)

Check out Candice's other races at Destination Trail

Registration for the 2017 Tahoe 200 opens on November 5 at 9:00pm PST at Ultra Sign Up or link to the registration page from the Tahoe 200 web site.

Ultra running. The number one shoe on the trail really

0:07.5

got the number one shoe. Is that empirical data or subjective data from your

0:12.6

observation? Well, I mean, just if you just get out on the trail for any length of

0:15.8

time and you just start counting shoes like I did using the tally system, you'll

0:19.4

find that the ultra is the most popular shoe. So subjective. Yeah, subjective. You

0:26.2

know, we were we were just up at Tahoe 200. That's what this podcast that we're

0:29.6

going to be doing here in a few minutes is about. And I saw a lot of altars up

0:34.3

there. And it looks like it's, you know, especially when you're running 200 miles,

0:38.5

you want to have those toes feel unhappy and happy. What they need space. And I was

0:44.7

running that with someone that said, I'm getting some blisters between my toes.

0:48.0

And yes, he was using enginges, but he had a narrow shoe. And it's like that

0:53.6

the other the other two runners I was with. He said, well, no kidding. Your your

0:58.6

feet are smushed together with those narrow shoes. It doesn't matter if you

1:02.1

have enginges on you have to have room for your feet. And we actually on this

1:07.3

podcast, we have a guest host with us today, a guest host from Ireland by way of

1:14.3

London. Yes. And she was just telling us before we started this little ad that

1:19.2

she just bought a pair of altars. Well, we've seen so many people wearing them on

1:24.1

the on the race. And I want to do the race next year. So I usually run in

1:28.8

innovates. And I like them because they got a really wide toe box. Right. And I

1:32.4

have tried the hookers, but the hookers are really narrow. So when we seen all

1:37.2

these guys went altars. And because I was at the A stations, I had some time.

1:40.8

I was grilling all the questions. You were doing your own tally system.
