the Important Cinema Club. And today, we're talking about two comedian heavyweights. And you know,

it's interesting, Justin. Nowadays, comedians have very peculiar names. Say, you got who's on first,

you got what's on second, you got out of

nose on third.

Yep.

Classic bit that was created and written and performed by the comedian we're talking

about today, right?

Abbott and Costello, what are you making faces at me?

Well, created.

I don't know if Abbott and Costello created anything. No, I don't think they did.

And when you think of Abbott and Costello, it's not like you look at the Marx Brothers,

you look at your Charlie Chaplains, your Buster Keatons, and you associate them with innovations,

or you think comedy changed after them. I don't know if comedy changed after Abbott and Costello.

If anything, they were like an aggregation.

They were like the definitive example of something.

When people talk about them, they like to say, oh, they continued this vaudevillian tradition,

putting these jokes that otherwise would have fallen away into

history and making them popular again, like the Who's on First Routine, which was popularized by

them, but it wasn't their creation. That was an old dusty thing that it existed forever.

Sure. Back in the day, turn of the 20th century in the burlesque halls and the vaudeville houses,

you know, in burlesque, between the stripte's acts, you would have these baggy pants comedians

...
