This episode is going to look at first thoughts on the Miami Dolphins.

Before we jump into Miami, just want to remind everybody after the Friday show, a couple days off.

Everybody can take a breath, enjoy the long weekend, enjoy the holidays.

Let's get to the Dolphins.

Everyone's going to hype up the offense, talk about the offense, how explosive it can be.

Lots of fun to talk about Mike McDaniel, but I think it's more important,

especially here in the latter part of June, to talk about Vic Fangio and how different

the defense for the Miami Dolphins is going to be in

2003 because of the significant scheme change.

Not going to dive particularly deep into the X's and O's, but let's paint a picture of what

they were last year under Josh Boyer, which was really the Brian Flores scheme, and then

compare it to how different it'll be for Fangio.

So last year was all about bringing pressure, gap and a half scheme, lots of cover zero,

lots of extreme blitzes, dolphins had the third highest blitz rate, pressure rate was high as well,

played very little cover two, very little zone defense on the back end.

It was all about aggression and bringing pressure.

That led to teams with a very high depth of target downfield when playing the Miami Dolphins.

Part of that was due to teams needing to catch up to the Dolphins.
