Over the past couple of weeks, I've been getting some questions about my gear.

What kind of gear am I taking out of my big adventure this summer?

And one question in particular is, comes from Mark from Flint, Michigan, who says,

Pop Bear, two things here.

One is, I think we would like to know what type of gear you use when you're out on your

backpacking trips.

And number two, you don't seem to be a fan of gear reviews.

Can you tell us about that and why?

Well, it's not that I'm not a fan of gear reviews and you're obviously referencing

an episode I did back in April, but here's the thing about gear reviews with me.

There are people out there who are qualified, it's like to say, who spend a lot of time

in the outdoors, much more time than I do, who are actually testing multiple pieces of

gear.

For example, they're not taking one brand of tent, staying in front of a camera or in front

of a microphone and saying, oh, look at this.
