Patriotic establishment media often bends over backwards to pat the United States on the back for a generosity in times of crisis

after sending in the troops to help survivors of disasters get their lives back together.

But what if a militarized response to disaster is the last

thing that's needed in places like Haiti where they have been suffering from

military occupations and militarized responses for 500 years here to help us better understand disaster recovery and what a just

recovery might look like.
