So talk about why you wrote this book.

You're a professor at University of California, Berkeley, a sociologist.

What brought you to Southern Louisiana?

Well, five years ago, I felt we were already moving far apart and the right was growing.

And I was in an enclave, a geographic enclave, media enclave, electronic enclave, we're

all in enclave.
