The Environmental Protection Agency awarded a no-bid contract today to Blackwater U.S.A. in

a move to better protect the American climate.

Blackwater, a controversial private security firm that has taken on numerous high-risk

assignments in Iraq, says it's up to the task.

EPA spokesman Marvin Stackler agrees, Blackwater has sent small teams to shut down holes in

the ozone layer where dangerous UV rays were able to sneak in.

Blackwater came under fire last year when several of its employees were accused of gang-raping

a giant sequoia they had been hired to protect.
