two where we interview Carrie, a former elementary school teacher who

recently left teaching to attend dental hygiene school. I thought this episode,

this interview was really interesting because Carrie represents the statistic

that we hear all the time, which is that over half of teachers leave the

profession within the first five years, and I believe she might have left it

about the five and a half six-year mark, but Carrie is a statistic and being

able to talk with her and really dig into the reasons that sort of led to her

leaving, I thought was really interesting. This episode would be helpful to

people who are considering going into teaching to help them figure out if it's

going to be a good match with their personality. Also, I got a lot of insights

that I think would be useful for administrators because Carrie really points to

the importance of the social environment at a school among the faculty and even

with the principal, and she really points out how one of her best experiences as a

teacher was in a school where the principal made a real effort to bring the

faculty together as a family and provide social opportunities for them, and I

think that comfort is really important for new teachers. One of the things that
