What's going on everyone? Welcome back. I've got a couple of little tips for you today because I know that for most places around the country or the world we're going into a season in which this is the meat of the season. It's time to grow if you are just

coming into the spring you're ready to plant. If you're like me and in a warmer

climate you're already sort of in full swing you're pulling tomatoes out of the

garden already. So we're going to talk about a method to increase the fruit setting on a lot of the plants that you grow in the garden that require pollination. Now, I know we just did an entire episode on pollinators a couple weeks ago with

McKay Joyce she did B-week it was B-week on the podcast and of course it's going to be

preferable to pollinate your plants the natural way

because not only does that take time to do it by hand but also you know why would we

not want nature to work for us, right?

However, that does not always happen.

So I'm going to go over two different methods for hand pollinating

so you can actually increase the amount of fruit that you get out of your plants.

So this is method number one.

This is a method that's very good for things like zucchini, squash, pumpkins, watermelons.

You've got your male flower and you've got your female flower, right?

Your male flower is going to have a plain stem underneath the flower, so a

thin normal looking stem. Your female flower is going to have what's looking like a tiny vegetable. looking

like a tiny vegetable underneath the flower.

So if it's a zucchini, there's a little baby looking zucchini underneath that flower.

Here's what you want to do.

Gently snip off the male flower from the plant and do not damage the flower.

So snip beneath the stem.

Snip the petals off of the male flower, do not touch the stamen on the male flower with your fingers.
