Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

in Lafayette, Louisiana.

We'll go ahead and get started.

And when we get started here, in just a minute, we'll be picking up in St. Paul's 2nd Ep to St. Timothy chapter three. We did sort of the first

half, not by text, but by chapter divisions. Last time, and I'm going to not so boldly predict that we will probably finish

this evening given the amount of 2nd Timothy we have left and there's not a ton of sort of

recap to do we've seen already that a lot of the themes we've been seeing in Second Timothy are similar

to themes we saw in First Timothy.

This is still a letter that's being written within St. Paul's mentorship relationship

with St. Timothy.

As St. Paul knows, his own death is approaching, which he's alluded to now

several times. He's preparing St. Timothy to sort of take over this leadership role in the churches.

And so he's been, Second Timothy, what we've read so far at least, has mainly been focusing on

sort of him developing the same kind of mentorship role that St. Paul has had with him,

with other people, right? So he talked about, he's talked about passing on what he's received, the gospel

that's been, that was entrusted to St. Paul, that now St. Timothy has received, that he now

find men to pass it on to, right, to into the next generation of leadership. that this will continue and he's kind of

uh st paula's talked about both sides you know dealing with encouraging and building up those who

are on the right track and then also uh how to deal with those who are on the wrong track.

And we've seen how St. Paul has expressed this kind of pastoral concern for all of them, right?
