0:13.0	If you're new here, you should know that our goal here at the Bible Book Club is to read and discuss the entire book of the Bible, and you are along for the ride.
0:21.8	That's right. So let's recap where we are now and how Second Samuel fits into the Bible.
0:27.5	So the entire book of the Bible is one complex historical story made up of many, many stories that lead to one grand purpose.
0:36.3	And that's God's plan to redeem and save the world.
0:40.2	Now, within the complex story, that big one, there are many notable heroes like Noah and
0:45.9	Abraham and Moses. These are great men and women whom God did great things with. Now, with these men
0:52.9	in particular, Noah, Abraham, and Moses, God made the first,
0:57.2	second, and third covenants in the Bible. The first was with Noah when God spared him in the flood
1:03.6	and created the Noahic covenant in Genesis 9. The second was with Abraham when God promised to make
1:10.1	him father of a nation and created the Abrahamic covenant in Genesis 12.
1:16.1	And the third was with Moses when God gave Israel the laws for maintaining a relationship with him in the Mosaic covenant, which started in Exodus 19.
1:27.1	Now, David, the focus of our current story, is another central
1:32.3	character who is greatly used by God. And with David, God will make the fourth and final Old
1:40.1	Testament covenant. As you know, Jesus will fulfill the fifth and only New Testament covenant
1:46.9	when he establishes a new relationship between God and all humanity. And that's all five
1:52.1	covenants. So that's a big overview of one of the themes of the Bible, these five covenants.
1:57.0	Now, the Davidic covenant is just one way that the story of King David kind of paves the way to the story of the King of Kings, Jesus, and that new covenant I just talked about.
