that get into our study uh second samuel chapter 24 tonight uh this is the last chapter we finish

this book of second samuel we're going to sort of seamlessly uh continue in the next book which is

first kings and then after that second kings and then after that first and second chronicles.

The books of Samuel and Kings and Chronicles are a continued narrative of sorts.

We're going to sort of pick it up Lord willing next week in First Kings, but it is a history in a chronological order

of the history of the nation of Israel. And now tonight's chapter is very interesting, and I would

even say challenging as it relates to what we're going to see God

do here with both David and Israel namely God's going to judge both of them and so we're going to have

to take some time at the beginning to really get our hands on this. Otherwise, we have the

potential to really misunderstand the nature of God because of what we're about to see. So why

don't we pray? We'll ask God's blessing on our study. Lord, thank you so much for your word and for this time that we have on Thursday nights

to just put all of the cares and affairs aside and all of the busyness of our lives and the

busyness of our week and just come to this place and fellowship and worship and open up our Bibles and just learn of you.

And that's what we want to do tonight, Lord. So as we do, would you minister to us through your

word and speak to us in your word. Lord, we're asking you for this. In Jesus

name, amen. All right, let's jump in. Just verse one. We read again, the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel,

and he, and it's capitalized, depending on what your version is,

he moved David against them, speaking of Israel, to say,

go number Israel and Judah okay I need you to just kind of bear with me because right out of a shoot here in verse one we have some difficulties that we need to kind of work through and the first one is with regards to God's anger

the question is this what was the sin that Israel and or David committed that had so

aroused the anger of the Lord against them.

We're kind of coming in cold here. We don't know exactly what it is that happened that caused God's anger to be aroused against them.
