0:17.5	Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. You may recall last week we ended one revolt against David, where the people of Israel had left him, or at least a lot of them had.
0:30.7	Well, today we start another. Shiba rebels against David. Now, a troublemaker named Shiba's son of Bikri, a Benjaminite, happened to be
0:38.8	there. He sounded the trumpet and shouted, we have no share in David, no part in Jesse's son,
0:44.5	every man to his tent, Israel. So all the men of Israel deserted David to follow Shiba, son of
0:51.4	Beekri. But the men of Judah stayed by their king all the way from the Jordan to Jerusalem.
0:57.8	When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to take care of the
1:03.9	palace and put them in a house under guard. He provided for them but had no sexual relations with them.
1:10.1	They were kept in confinement till the day of
1:12.0	their death living as widows. Then the king said to Amasa, summon the men of Judah to come to me
1:18.1	within three days and be here yourself. But when Amasa went to summon Judah, he took longer than the time
1:24.8	the king had set for him. David said to Abashai, now Shiva the son of Bikri will do more harm than Absalom did.
1:33.6	Take your master's men and pursue him, or he will find fortified cities and escape from us.
1:38.3	So Joab's men and the Keratites and the Pelothites and all the mighty warriors went out under the command of Abashai.
1:46.8	They marched out from Jerusalem to pursue Shiba, Sanabikri.
1:51.8	While they were at the Great Rock in Gibbon, Amasa came to meet them.
1:55.5	Joab was wearing his military tunic and strapped over it at his waist was a belt with a dagger in its sheath.
2:02.1	As he stepped forward, it dropped out of its sheath.
2:05.2	Joab said to Amasa, how are you, my brother?
2:08.0	Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
2:11.7	Amasa was not on guard against the dagger in Joab's hand, and Joab plunged it into his belly,
