Now, get into the word. Second Samuel chapter 18. We're going to finish the chapter

Lord willing tonight, so we're going to pick it up in verse 19. We only got to verse 18 last week,

and we'll make it through to verse 33 in our trek through this book, chapter by chapter

and verse by verse. As you're turning there, if you're not there already,

I'll kind of give you the backstory here as to where we're at.

Absalom, in this chapter, has been killed along with tragically,

and I mean tragically, 20,000 men in Israel's army.

And this after they launched their attack against David and his men

in their efforts to kill David, Absalom's own father.

And what's really sad about this is that David had given this clear command to not harm his son,

Absalom, but instead to show him kindness and mercy and spare his life. And after all, he's my son.

And they didn't do that. As we pick it up here in verse 19 David is about to receive the news of his son absalom's death and he's also going to receive

the news that he has been victorious and he will be restored to his

rightful place on the throne as king of Israel. It's a pretty intense remainder of the chapter

here so let's pray and we'll ask God's blessing on our time in his word. Lord thank you so much for your word.
