Welcome to Searchlight. A survey through scripture with Pastor John Corson. It is our desire to bring you a

systematic study of the entire Bible chapter by chapter book by book.

On our last program we began looking at an interesting story in 2nd Samuel Chapter

10. It is a story of David doing an act of kindness for a foreign

king. This king's father had died and David sent messengers to the king to comfort

him. Now how do you think this act of kindness was received?

Unfortunately not very well. As we pick up the story today we will see that

some people just don't believe a simple act of kindness.

Let's now join John and see how the story turns out.

Take things at face value, but there's always going to be people that say he didn't really mean that

or why did he say that or why did she send that or why did she do that hmm hmm

you say and that's what these guys said, David doesn't really want to comfort you.

There's another agenda. He wants to spy out the land. He's got some kind of devious sneaky plan.

So, Hainen listened to those skeptics, those cynics, those that said there's a catch to this kindness.

And he took verse four David's servants and shaved off one

half of their beards. Now to a Jewish man the beard was a symbol of your masculinity.

It was not to be shaved for any reason whatsoever
