Chapter 3. Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle, in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder. So he's coming back to this that he talked about. Remember,

he said in the first chapter kind of literally that he was sort of

bugging them about this over and over again, that he was kind of pestering them. But it was because

they needed to be nagged a little bit, right, and reminded again and again. So he's going back to

that reminder idea, right? This isn't stuff you don't know, but you need to remember.

That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of the

commandments of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior.

So he's continuing that connection.

Remember the men of old were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Now it's the apostles, right?

These are the people you need to be listening

to, not these false teachers. You can know by their works. Verse three, knowing this first,

that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, where is the promise of his coming?

For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.

So, he's now giving another example, right, in addition to the false teachers.

There are going to be people who show up who are going to say, hey, remember how that whole

gospel thing ended with Christ returning to judge the living and the dead?

I ain't seen any sign of that recently.

Right?
