We have a great show for you today. We'll be interviewing Palo Bachegalupi, a very exciting new writer,

his first novel The Wind Up Girl, is just out. And so I guess we're just going to start out and talk about Palo a little bit.

In addition to his novel, he has a short story collection called Pump Six and other stories and so I was just

looking at his short story bibliography and noticing that he's published a grand total of 12 stories and the number of

best of the year anthologies he's appeared in is 12.

So I mean, you know, he has as many Europe's best appearances as total published stories.

And of course not every story has been picked up for years best, but those that have been picked up more than once.

You know, for some of us other writers who consider ourselves quite talented and are quite proud of our grand total of one year's best anthology appearance in which we clutch to our breast like Gollum with his ring.

It's sort of, it's quite something to think of somebody who's had 12 stories 12 years best

appearances so I mean that just gives you an idea of how highly regarded

Palo is. He's also had a couple stories nominated for like the

Hugo and Nebula and at least one like a People of Sand and Slag was nominated for both and he won the

Theodor Sturgeon Award for Best Short Story for one of them, I think, the calorie man.
