okay welcome everyone to the first episode of Geek's

Guys of Galaxy this is you can tell your grandkids, you were here for this.

We've got a great show for you today. We'll be interviewing Chet Valisek from Valve Software,

lead writer on Left for Dead 2, and we'll just be talking about zombies and

video games.

And the end of the world.

So that's all coming up just a bit later on the show.

We're going to start out by talking about Valve Software for folks maybe who aren't

gamers who don't know how special they are and how awesome and why we're so

excited to have a chat on the show today.

So Valve Software really came to prominence with Half Life,

which was just a really exciting groundbreaking game

when it came out. The story of Half Life was very similar to Doom,

which had been a big hit before that. But really the only way you would know what the story of

Doom was is if you had read the instructions manual, because there was really no other way you would know.

I mean, the instruction manual talked about scientists

at a top secret facility on Mars's moon Fobos doing experiments
