Many in the media have been highlighting the problems of inflation and rising gas prices.

They demone the negative impact these have on American workers and their families.

But they never seem to mention though, are the things that would help American workers

whether the temporary storms caused by having to pay 20 cents more for a gallon of gas

or milk.

Like providing universal health care, free college tuition, childcare from birth, and

a radical suggestion I know may be making sure they have a living wage.

Instead we have the phrase, working poor, which should be an oxymoron in the world's richest

country.

But so should free man mark fucking meadows.

And here we are.

I understand that jobs requiring less specialization don't command high salaries because at least theoretically,

most people could do them and there is therefore more competition for them.

I think we misuse the word unskilled when it comes to certain kinds of labor however.

If you've ever seen a farm worker pick radishes, you'll understand exactly what I'm talking

about.

Whether there's a lot of competition or not for a particular job should be completely

irrelevant to whether or not an employee gets a living wage.

If a business has a job that requires a full time worker, then that job should pay enough

for the worker who does the job to cover all living expenses and have some leftover to

go.
