0:00.0	Hello there. I'm Tyler Griffin and this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
0:07.0	Today, Second Nephi chapters 1 and 2. It's kind of fun to only have two chapters where we can
0:14.5	dive deep and explore more in depth. Before we begin with the Scriptures, the concept, the Scripture study
0:25.6	idea that I wanted to share today is this idea of are we just reading the Scriptures
0:35.3	to learn the history or to learn the stories of these people, or does that
0:40.2	become a means to the end of coming to understand God better, to discover attributes of the
0:51.0	Savior Jesus Christ better, to be able to more fully connect with heaven in our own life.
0:57.0	So what I wanted to show is in the lectures on faith in Curtland at the School of the Prophets,
1:07.0	Joseph Smith, Sidney Rigdon, and other leaders of the church would prepare those early missionaries to go out and preach the gospel by going through the seven lectures on faith.
1:16.6	A couple of those lectures talk about the characteristics, the perfections and the attributes of God.
1:38.3	Now, I always remember because of CPA, the characteristics, perfections, and attributes of
1:45.1	God. And the reality is, is if you read all of the lectures on faith, you will find that
1:54.4	they teach that there are three things that are necessary in order for you to have faith
2:00.5	unto life and salvation. Faith have faith unto life and salvation, faith in God
2:03.6	unto life and salvation, the kind of faith that will actually propel you forward to becoming
2:09.3	more like Christ. And the first thing is required that you have a belief in God. The second
2:15.9	is that you have a knowledge of his characteristics,
2:19.2	perfections, and attributes. And the third is that you have a knowledge that the course that
2:26.2	you're pursuing in life is in accordance with God's will. So what we're going to focus on
2:31.7	today is this middle requirement in order for me to have the kind of faith that will help me progress and actually become more like God, which is a correct idea of the characteristics, perfections, and attributes of God.
2:49.0	And every time you open the scriptures,
2:52.7	you can look for the Savior on every single page, either through his names, his titles,
