And tonight we're going to do two chapters, Lord willing. We'll move as quickly as we can.

Chapter 16 and 17 in 2nd Kings as we make our way through the Old Testament, book by book and chapter by chapter and verse by verse.

So why don't we pray before we get started. We'll ask God to bless our time together in His Word.

Loving Heavenly Father, thank you so much for all that you're doing. Thank you for the progress

on our beautiful new church building. Lord, thank you for all that you're doing. Thank you for

providing. Thank you for just

granting us the grace of getting this building completed. Lord, we ask for your blessing tonight

on our time together in your word. And Lord, we want for you to, and need for you, to speak

into our lives in and through these two chapters that

we have before us this evening. So Lord, will you? We ask you, in Jesus' name, amen.

All right, let's get started. Verse one. In the 17th year of Pecca, the son of Ramalia, Ahaz, the son of Yotham, king of Judah, began to reign.

Ahaz, verse 2, was 20 years old when he became king, and he reigned 16 years in Jerusalem,

and he did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord His God, as his father David had done.

But verse 3, he walked in the ways, interesting, of the kings of Israel.

Indeed, he made his son pass through the fire.

According to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had

cast out from before the children of Israel.

And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green

tree. Well, we're off to a horrible start once again. The narrative

begins with an all too familiar account of yet another king who did not do what was right

in the side of the Lord. But it's a different king this time in the sense that not only was
