Summary

“We often think of self love as a noun…” a thing we want more of. “In reality, love is a verb…” something inside of us and something that we do; not something we possess. In this episode, Mary talks about the paradox of thinking that if we only have more things to do what we want to do then we can achieve self love. “If you want to have self love, start with the be.” We also hear more about Mary’s personal journey with body image and take a look at how it has affected her relationships in the past, from judging others to how it affected her sex life. Mary also discusses the importance of romanticizing your own life and what that could possibly look like for you. Take a moment to brew a warm cup of tea and enjoy the show!

Welcome to Tea Time with Mary. I'm your host, Mary Jolkowski. I'm a former bikini fitness model turned self-love advocate. And this is the podcast that will inspire you to love yourself.

0:21.4

Hi, everyone. Welcome to your second and first official episode of Tea Time with Mary.

0:28.7

Today I want to talk about how to fall in love with yourself.

0:33.5

Now, this episode, I was toying with the title because I couldn't decide between how to self-love

0:42.1

and how to fall in love with yourself.

0:45.5

And I went with how to fall in love with yourself because I feel like we really recognize

0:50.4

that verbiage, whereas how to self-love feels a little awkward. But let me explain to you

0:58.4

why I really wanted to do this episode and why I want to start off the podcast with talking

1:03.3

about self-love and how to actually have more of it. When we think of self-love, we often think of self-love as a noun. And what I mean by that

1:15.8

is it's a thing, right? It's a thing that we want more of. It's a thing that we don't have.

1:21.9

It's a thing that we are lacking. It's a thing that we are working on. It's a thing. It's a thing. It's a thing.

1:28.9

In reality, love is a verb. And adding self to the front of it still makes it a verb. It's basically

1:39.5

what you do that inspires and deepens and develops the love that you have within yourself.

1:49.0

So even though we often talk about self-love as this thing outside of us, it's actually something

1:54.8

that is inside of us and it's actually something that we do, not something that we possess.

2:02.9

So when talking about self-love, I really want to start off with this idea that I think so many people overlook in life.

2:14.0

Now, we're going to get pretty abstract here and hang tight with me because this is going to apply to all areas of your life. Now, we're going to get pretty abstract here and hang tight with me because this is going to

2:19.4

apply to all areas of your life and will literally change your life. So most people think that

2:27.2

they need to have things, right? They need to have certain things before they can, before they can do

2:33.7

the things that they want to do. So, for example, I need to have certain things before they can do the things that they want to do.

2:35.0

So, for example, I need to have money before I can travel.

2:39.4

Or I need to have the house of my dreams before I can do all my projects that I want to do.
