Today's Italian words
Panino = Sandwich
Panini = Sandwiches
Biscotto = biscuit
Biscotti = biscuits
Un caffè = A short strong coffee (espresso) that Italians normally drink
Caffè americano = a long coffee (the way people normally drink it in America and UK)
Latte macchiato = The real Italian word for caffè latte
Bruschetta = Bruschetta (remember to pronounce it with a hard K sound, like brusKetta)
Peperoni = bell peppers (the vegetable, not the meat!)

This week we're going to talk about words that people often think are the same in Italian and English, but they're actually different in some way.

While you were there, did you notice any words in English that people think are Italian, but

I remember Panini, that is quite a strange word for an Italian, because

you know that Panini in Italian is the plural word for panino, which just means sandwich.

Well, in the UK, Panini is this fancy grilled flatbread sandwich with melted cheese. The literal

translation of Panini is actually just

the word sandwiches and that's any plain old sandwiches. So if you order panini in in Italy,

you might get a confused look from the waiter and you won't get one of those delicious sandwiches

with melted cheese. Another really similar one is Biscotti.
