Okay, so we'll go ahead and get started.

When we get started, we're going to be picking up at the beginning of St. Paul's Second

Epistle to the Corinthians chapter 7.

And to get us a little caught up, which is important tonight because even though we're picking

up at a chapter break, that

wasn't really much of a break in the text.

It was just the chapter.

As we've mentioned before, these chapter and verse breaks were put in many, many, many

centuries after these texts were written.

And so, in some cases, the chapter divisions are primarily based on

the lectionary, like the reading cycle. So they're just sort of chunks of a certain length

in a lot of cases. And so sometimes they're in sort of a good spot that makes sense,

where there's sort of a break in theme. and then sometimes they had just gone a long time

since they had one, and so they put one in.

So it varies a little.

The same thing with the verse breaks.

They often, when they make English translations of the Bible,

make it look like the verse breaks are just sort of each sentence,

or they try to match it up that way,
