Verse 7, and our hope for you is steadfast,

because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings,

so also you will partake of the consolation.

So it just says the there,

but the definite article in Greek is really more like this.

So it should be, it would be better translated that as you are partakers of these sufferings,

so also you will partake of this consolation, right?

Meaning the sufferings of Christ, the consolation of Christ that he was just referring to.

So he's saying, just as you're suffering now, as you seek to follow Christ,

we know that you will also receive that consolation on the other side.

So this is Christ's death and then resurrection, right, that he's setting in parity.

We know that if you're if you're suffering with christ

you're also going to rise with christ verse eight for we do not want you to be ignorant brethren

of our trouble which came to us in asia that we were burdened beyond measure above strength

so that we despaired even of life so in addition to what he's been dealing with in

Corinth, St. Paul's been dealing with more problems too, right? And we read about a lot of these

difficult Asia, of course, is Asia Minor. He's talking about what's now Turkey and the church is there. And so he's talking

about some of the troubles he had after leaving Corinth that we read about in the acts of the

apostles where he was going from city to city and being chased out of town. And so he's saying,
