Now I understand it is a challenge to the US Navy superiority in the Eastern Pacific. If there's in the East Asia and Western Pacific if there's anything that mitigates the Chinese intention to invade Taiwan

It's the submarine fleet especially especially the Virginia class, attack boats, but the Chinese

are building attack boats that get credibility from the Wall Street Journal.

It's called the Chang class. Does that match up to the Virginia? the with some previous generations of our submarines, perhaps the Sturgeon class, the permit class,

boats, many of which are still actively serving in terms of their overall quietness.

I don't believe that they come even close to the Virginia and they're certainly not close to the three

sea wolf class submarines that we built in the late 1990s in the early 2000s.

However, the key here is the Chinese are making the right investments.

They are understanding where the research and the science and the engineering is going and they are working hard and John they have a tremendous industrial base and a tremendous research and development base and so do not expect that the China will will build a lot of a

particular class of submarines. They will build a few, they will test, they will

experiment, and then they will build more that are more advanced and quieter.

You're going to see a rapid evolution of the Chinese underwater fleet over the next 10 to 15 years.
