I'm John Batchel with my colleague Jonathan Shanzer, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy's

executive director, Syria. The headline promises, but Syria and Israel in direct talks focused on security.

This has to do with the overlap of the Israeli and the Turkish military in a wasted and failed land of Syria.

The Golan Heights and Mount Harmon and then looking toward the smokes of Damascus.

The Turks, on the other hand, have indicated they want to take possession of airfields

in and around and north of Damascus.

Damascus is the stronghold of the former terrorist Alhaara, who now declares himself the president,

Russians to the West, Americans to the East, and these two very capable militaries,

Turkey, very large, Israel, very effective. I want to say this is good news, Jonathan, Is it? Well, John, it's an interesting thing here.

You know, obviously the United States has out-lifted sanctions on Syria. As I understand it,

this will be the case for the next 180 days. And, you know, the U.S. continues to test whether this is, in fact, a pragmatic

regime that controls Syria. I certainly have my doubts, given the fact that Ahmed al-Shara,

formerly known as Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, was an al-Qaeda leader who partnered with ISIS. So we don't
