Summary

Never have human beings owned as much as we do today and so many of us feel overwhelmed, distracted, anxious, and stretched thin. In this powerful return conversation, Joshua Becker joins Ginny Yurich to explore why the pursuit of more often leaves us with less of what matters most. Drawing from his book Uncluttered Faith, Joshua shares how owning less can lead to deeper relationships, stronger faith, greater generosity, more time with the people you love, and a life marked by purpose instead of accumulation. From four televisions becoming one to discovering that the things we chase rarely deliver what they promise, this episode is an invitation to step off the treadmill of consumerism and reclaim the life waiting on the other side. connection and you got another book coming out soon and I was like oh we're going to get to have

0:46.3

a second conversation this book is so good I took so many notes on it this is about how when

we pursue being more minimalist that this can help

0:56.7

our faith. And I know this summer coming up, the book came out in February, this summer

1:01.2

coming up. You're speaking at churches all over the place. I think you said you have 28 churches

1:05.2

lined up. Can you talk about how the church is receiving this message? Is there some feather ruffling or is it

1:12.9

mostly positive? Is there a mix? I think it has been incredibly positive. Very, very positive.

1:20.9

Maybe when I leave the room, feathers are being ruffled, but they don't seem to be, they don't

1:25.8

seem to be ruffling in front of me.

1:29.1

But, Ginny, I have talked about owning less for 17 or 18 years, and the number of people

1:36.8

who come up to me after I explain what I mean and say, that's wrong.

1:47.1

This is totally out of left field. I would never want anything to do with that, is pretty minimal number.

1:51.3

But when you explain how owning less frees up our life for more important things, it makes

1:59.3

sense for most people. And I think the way this book has been

2:03.6

received, I spent my whole life hearing sermons about how consumerism was evil and materialism

2:10.7

was bad, but they never seemed to really resonate with me. And so Uncluttered Faith takes a very

different, a positive, an invitational
