Summary

In our most light and peppy episode to date, Danielle Kartes reminds us that joy is available today—not if or when. In this upbeat, heart-forward conversation, the celebrity chef behind Rustic Joyful Food shares how a closed restaurant, tight budgets, and a whole lot of grit became the soil for fourteen books, national TV appearances, and a ministry of encouragement. We swap stories about building a resilient family culture around the table, the healing power of rhythm and routine, and why “Dear dinnertime, we love you!” can change a home’s atmosphere. Explore Danielle’s world (and her recipes by season) at RusticJoyfulFood.com Parents, you’ll love the practicals: getting kids confident in the kitchen, “flip it or skip it” ingredient swaps, toddler-tapas starters, and the lost skills every child can master—multiplying a recipe, seasoning with savvy, and knowing when a cake is done. Danielle’s brand-new book The Best Kids Cookbook is a joyful on-ramp to all of it. Also, check out the other books mentioned in this episode! Cortez I didn't even I didnez. I didn't even, I didn't even have a chance to ask, Curtis. I mean, I didn't have a chance to ask because you just like dove in to like, I'm about crying. It's been 90 seconds. Oh, you're going to get my whole heart. There's so much heart behind everything that we do. It's not just about selling books and being kitchy and all the things.

2:18.4

I'm really after people's hearts and just introducing them to Jesus. That's it. That's the end of my job. And if I can teach you how to make a cool pot roast or get your kids involved in the kitchen or to move through heartbreak, we're going to do it. Oh, I'm so glad that, you know, occasionally I get the cookbooks in the mail.

how am I supposed to do a podcast about a cookbook? But, you know, some of them have, there's always extra themes. And, you know, so I go back and forth about saying yes or no, and I was looking at all the things that you offer. In this particular cookbook, that's, you're going to have to tell me, I would have asked you all the questions, but you started to say so many amazing things.
