Summary

What things in your life do you try really hard to hide?

If my friends knew that I’m struggling with big temptations

If people ever found out that I’ve had an abortion

If people really knew how bad my marriage is

Honestly, we are all hypocrites at some level. And the more visible we are in our Christian circles, the more we feel that there are certain things we can never admit out loud.  So we don’t tell anyone, and tell ourselves that we can handle it on our own.  But we don’t heal in secret.  Join Dr. Juli Slattery and learn how God is glorified when we’re ready to admit that we just don’t have it all together.

Hey, welcome to Job Boy, Julie. We're at Mission Coffee in Colorado Springs. And by the way, if you're ever in Colorado Springs, you've got to look up Mission Coffee Roasters and stop by, have some great coffee, and you never know. We might be recording. Just come upstairs. That's right. Yep, we got our own little setup up here, which is very cool. And you just heard Hannah Knits' voice. Hi, guys. Hannah is in from Ohio, visiting in Colorado Springs. And loving every moment of it, even though this morning. You're going to wrap me out, huh? Julie was like, Hannah, I'd really like to spend some time with you. Let's just go on like an easy hike. And she said like five times the word easy. Like on the way there, she was like, it's just a real easy hike. Y'all, this thing was straight. Oh, come on. It was. I have picture evidence. Well, we kind of got lost. I mean, I was trying to look for an easy hike because you're coming from sea level. That's true. So anyway, I'm happy to be in Colorado. I always love being with you, Julie. But if Hannah falls asleep during our conversation, you know why. You know why? Yeah. My fit cousins beat me up. So if you come to Colorado, you might have to hike with us, too. That's part of the deal. It's what you do in Colorado. Yeah. So, Hannah, what are we talking about today?

1:46.7

I'm so excited about this conversation. So, Julie, you wrote a book. It's not out yet, but you wrote

1:53.1

it. And it's called rethinking sexuality. And essentially, you've taken, listen to me telling you what

1:58.9

you did, you have taken so much of what we've been

2:02.1

teaching as a ministry of sexual discipleship and helping people walk out what that looks like in

2:09.9

their life. And there's one section that has really been, I would say as I've been reading

2:17.0

through it, a big aha moment for me.

2:19.3

And you titled it something along, like the public me versus the private me.

2:24.4

And how much we struggle with that as a whole, but especially when it comes to walking out what we believe in sexuality.

2:31.6

So that's what we're talking about.

2:34.1

Yes. And you've kind of had your head

2:36.0

wrapped around this book and we're really excited for it. But even just a small section like this,

2:43.7

it's crazy to me how it like rattles my thinking for a couple of weeks just from a couple

2:48.8

paragraphs. So I just wanted you to talk more about it.

2:52.7

So I like when I can come on job with Julie and make pretend like you are the guest.

2:57.1

Yeah, that's kind of fun.
