Okay, now this is a classic episode in the making if there is such a thing I love my

varied episodes and weird and strange and wonderful people as you know it's what gives me some sort of spice of life variation I love

talking to all different kinds of people there's been a bit of a move towards

cults and defectors of cults recently that was always ingrained in the show my first

ever episode was a former West Baptist church member my third was an ex-Hazidic

Jew and the ninth was an ex-Muslim but I've dipped into culture wars and weird and strange people and things

back and forward and I'm delighted that you guys have stuck with me for these sort of surprising

and different guests each week. Most podcasts tend to be a bit more niche.

And somebody who defies niche is today's guest,

A.J. Jacobs.

And he just blew my mind.

He was actually mentioned to me by James Altutcher and his producer Jay who told me,

hey have you interviewed AJ he lived for a year like the Bible and I just laughed and thought

like you know I got to talk to this guy.

And sure enough I read his book The Year of Living Biblically and it was just amazing.

An absolute riot, so so funny, laugh out loud, but also really moving and existential because he really takes

on that life of somebody who takes the Bible literally for a year.

He really considers what it means to be literal about the Bible and it's a beautiful book. You long

suffering listeners will know that every now and then I just get a bit do lally
