interesting one is accommodations for college students of ADHD and LD. I'm so pleased to welcome Elizabeth

Hamlet, she's the author of From High School to College, Steps for Success

with Students with Disabilities. You know, as most of you know, disability services for students with ADHD and LD are quite different in college

than those in high school and earlier.

They just don't happen unless the student initiates the process herself or himself and the services

himself may be quite different from school to school and from what you're used to.

So knowing which accommodations are probably available to college students can be really helpful.

And today, a little bit handle, we'll be talking about how disability services do typically work in college.

Which accommodations are commonly and frequently

granted or not frequently granted, what categories of

accommodations colleges don't need to grant because of exemptions in the law,

and how changes in the academic

environment and college and strategies can help students navigate the world

around them in a different way. So let me introduce Elizabeth to you, She is a learning consultant at Columbia University's

Disability Services Office.

She's worked at the college level for 20 years

and gives presentations nationally to both education professionals and parents about how to prepare students with disabilities for success at school.
