Welcome to Feathers My Hair, a teen mom deep dive podcast. I'm your host, Liz Bentley.

Hi. Hello, everyone. Before we get started, I just want to say again, thank you so much to everyone who contributed to Operation Santa.

We've raised $4,000, which is just, it's, it's amazing. I sent out the gifts on Tuesday,

0:33.5

Wednesday, Wednesday morning before we got a snowstorm. Hopefully they will be arriving soon to the recipients.

USPS has really been fucking my gifts around. I swear to God, every fucking thing that I've ordered from Etsy, which I ordered, you know, like over Black Friday, has been like in transit arriving late. It's so annoying.

The tracking is so annoying. But I was able to ship out those gifts. Um, for the family where

1:03.8

the mom had lost the job, I was able to send her a $700 gift card along with each teen, a $300 gift card. That's, I think, the thing I'm most

1:26.4

long introduction and like explained every

1:29.4

single thing that I spent money on. And now I can't remember. But I think I mentioned one simple

1:33.8

wish on here, right? Which is a website, because I wasn't able to adopt more Operation Santa

1:39.5

letters because they just got adopted so quickly this year, I was looking for other ways that I could help.

1:45.8

And another way that I decided to help was through this organization called One Simple Wish,

1:50.6

which works with agencies that have kids in foster care or youth that is aged out of foster

1:56.7

care and they allow them to wish for anything, which I really like because, as you all know,

2:02.6

I'm a big believer in not just giving necessities to kids. I love that they like let the kids

2:08.8

ask for ugg boots and switches and the same shit that every other kid wants. So through one simple

2:14.8

wish, I was able to, I did fund a computer for a student for virtual

2:20.2

learning.

2:21.2

I also fund like a shopping spree for a girl.

2:23.7

So I would say those were the two necessities.
