The topic today is Virtue. As Proverbs 3110 says,

who can find a virtuous wife for her worth is far above Rubies? And Ruth is described by Boas in Ruth 311 the same way. All the people

know you are a virtuous woman. Virtue is a great word. It is valuable, rare, and being virtuous is a quality that pleases God.

It is common today, as it was common 20 years ago and 40 years ago, to roll the eyes at this virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31.

Don't think you are too sophisticated for Proverbs 31, that is self-flattery and

deception. You should read this chapter in Proverbs and be instructed and inspired and encouraged in your calling.

Virtuous women are not found in the world, and sometimes sadly they are hard to find in the church.

So let's consider just a few thoughts from King Lemuel's mother.

The most important feature is that a woman of virtue fears the Lord. Don't miss that.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom and God is the source of all virtue. So it follows that this woman is a woman of the word and in the

The Bible permeates her thinking and governs her behavior.

She reads it, she believes it, and she does what it says.

And when you have wisdom, it is necessarily accompanied by kindness, as it says in verse 26.
