Hello, everyone. Welcome back. Thank you as well as for listening. Today is this month's

deep dive topic where it's just me and the microphone talking about something retirement planning related

on an in-depth basis. And today's topic is backdoor Roth contributions. Wild stuff. I know.

Contain your excitement. I will tell you all about it. This podcast won't cover every single

nuance and angle there is to be considered, but I'm pretty confident saying it covers the main ones, the big ones, the large

boulders that anyone who's interested in learning more about or potentially doing a back

door contribution to a Roth account of some sort, this podcast should hopefully have you

covered very well.

So before we do though, my big goofy smile moment is not that big, not that goofy,

but I went to the gym the other day.

It's been really cold here in New Jersey.

So we had a snowstorm not too long ago.

We got about a foot of snow and it's been well below freezing every day since.

And so the snow hasn't gone anywhere, but you know, it's been single digits when we wake up in the morning and then it doesn't, you know, barely get to 20-ish, maybe in the 20s later in the day.

Anyway, so I try to go to the gym a few days a week. And one day this past week, I went and the really nice woman at the front desk checked in, usually chit chat a little bit, say, hi, whatever, I got to do my business and I leave. And as I was leaving, she's like, oh, going so soon. And she said it with like the most deadpaned straight face. I said, what do you mean? I've been here an hour. She said, no, I'm just messing with you.

And it made me smile. Yeah, she gets it. She has a nice sense of humor. It's kind of my sense of humor. And so we kind of chatted about that joke. And I was like, cool. I like you. And so that was my big goofy smile moment. Um, Russell, I have a question for you.

Is it ignorance or apathy that's destroying the world today?

I don't know and I really don't care. You get that? That was a joke. That was a joke people. Come on. All right. And all right, let us get into it. I'll hop right to it this week. So backdoor rough contribution. Now, I guess I'll say up front that that is the proper way to say it.

It's a backdoor Roth contribution. It is not a backdoor Roth conversion.
