We have Dr Ashwini, Namas Savaam McDonald and Dr. Samantha Schoon.

Ashwini is an assistant professor and speech language pathologist at McMaster University.

She also directs the aging swallow research lab.

Her research specializes in dysphagia and older adults.

Ashwini's goal is to produce clinically relevant research to inform

frontline practice.

Her current research is focused on dysphagia and people living with dementia and dysphagia

related caregiverden.

She was the 2020 recipient of the ACHA Award for Early Career Contributions and Research.

Samantha Schoon is an assistant professor at the Director of the Communication Disorders and Sciences program at the University of Oregon.

She also directs the optimizing swallowing and eating for the elderly lab.

Her research interests include the effects of healthy and pathological aging on the physiologic and psychosocial aspects of swallowing and meal times.

She is particularly interested in better understanding shared food related activities as opportunities to

therapeutically target improved quality of life for both older adults and their social networks,

for example partners and family members.
