so it's it's become very problematic now.

No, no, I think the first time you and I ever did one together was like 2018 maybe something like that. It's been a while.

Yeah, a while back. Anyway, so let's jump in here. You've been on Draykebrows recently with Joe Kent to talk about send me the book that you wrote about Shannon.

I think everybody knows that story. If not, we'll get into into it later but first let's talk about you and

your history where did you grow up I grew up in South Dakota you know very sort of typical blue-collar family. My dad worked at the railroad. My mom raised

kids, went to college, the local community college there.

And yeah, I'm the oldest of five, so.

Pretty interesting growing up and then joined the army,

you know, graduated high school on a Sunday in 2005 and left for Fort Benning on Tuesday and that kind of brought me into my next chapter. What made you decide to join the military? And what year was this?

So I literally signed my paperwork, right?

Like go to delayed entry or whatever in like the summer between my junior and senior of high school. so I wasn't delayed entry for a full year while I finished up high school

That was 2004. I left for basic in 2005

Started basic training in June 2005.

So you didn't do it between junior and senior year?

I know some people who did that.

Yeah, so did I.
