Today I'm going to give you a little Thomas Watson and commend his book to you all things for good.

And when I first read this book along with the Rare Jewel of Christian Containment by Burrows. It really changed my worldview. It's the best way to describe it.

So that's why just a small book plug there before I go on. I'm going to use one of his quotes to develop my

thoughts for you today and it's about our duty. He says it is not duty but

love to duty God looks at it is not duty but love to duty.

God looks at.

It is not how much we do, but how much we love.

First, what is duty?

What is a duty?

It's a moral or legal obligation.

Because we are women of the word, we find all our duties spelled out for us in the Bible.

There are duties for all believers. There are duties for wives. There are duties for

mothers and so on. God does not want us to obey him because we have to, but

because we love him.

Jesus said if you love me, you will obey my commandments.

This is part of the way we express our love for Jesus,

our love for God is by doing our duties. Watson has grounds for saying God is

looking more at our love for our duty than at the duty itself, because the love is what shapes us, what directs us, and gives us joy in approaching our duties.

So let's just talk about your Christian duties first and whether you love them.
